Overview
Shooting means hitting a target object with firearms in layman terms. It requires precision and is very interesting entertainment method as well. We all have played with toy guns and enjoyed hitting targets in melas and similar gatherings.
Shooting Sports can be classified as subset of the Shooting in general. Shooting sports encompass a range of competitive events and activities that involve the use of firearms or other projectile weapons. Participants engage in shooting games or competitions that test accuracy, speed, and skill in hitting targets.
Shooting sports can be enjoyed recreationally or competitively, with various organizations overseeing events at local, national, and international levels. In this article we will discuss about different Olympic approved Shooting events. We will also discuss events approved by other major international and national competitions.
Olympic approved Shooting Events
The Olympic Games feature a variety of shooting events that test the skills of athletes in precision and accuracy. Here are the different shooting events approved for the Olympics.
These events are grouped according to the equipment used for the Shooting. For example, if the equipment is Rifle, then it is Rifle event. Similarly, if equipment is pistol it is pistol event.
The 10m, 50m and 25m are the distance between the equipment or Shooter and target in meters. We will discuss each of these events in details as well in other posts. That time you will get more clarity about each and every category of the sports.
The mixed team events mean that the participants will be of different gender. There will be two shooters in the event from a country. One shooter will be Male, and other Shooter will be female.

Non-Olympic Shooting Sports Competitions
The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) is the governing body of Shooting sports. It organizes several international competitions dedicated shooting sports. These competitions encompass a variety of disciplines and formats, catering to different types of firearms and shooting techniques.
1. ISSF World Shooting Championships

India conducts annual nations competition in different disciplines of Shooting sports in all Olympic events.
